Designing your own home audio system is a task that people with sufficient knowledge of audio equipment and speaker systems usually take. However, everyone can design a home audio system according to specific needs. All you need to do is to follow some standard set of instructions. First of all, you need to break down your home audio system into smaller components. Understanding the connections, different devices and their integration will be much easier that way. A good audio system should allow you and your family members to enjoy movies and music with great sound quality that is supported by a good audio equipment system.
You are free to choose your own components such as wall-speakers, connecting wires, signal diversion sockets etc to boost the overall quality of sound.
1. You need to pick up the right receiver before you begin wandering around for other pieces of equipment. This receiver system will pick the signals from your CD player or other audio-video device and act as a switch. This receiver should have appropriate number of outlets to allow inclusion of all required audio connections. If you want to connect devices such as CD player, mp3 player and DVD player, make sure that the audio equipment has three openings to connect all these devices. In fact, you should keep 1-2 extra outlets for audio connections that can be included in future.

2. Your receiver system should have appropriate power to handle the signal and volume control. Go for highest possible voltage when you are choosing receiver for your home audio system. This type of home audio equipment will provide the best possible amplification to sound. High quality amplification is generally done through noise suppression at ground level. Check out THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) specifications for the receiver you are going to purchase. High quality receivers will measure THD below 0.1 percent while ordinary receiver equipment will be capable of measuring THD below 1 percent.
3. Now you need to purchase good quality speakers according to the specifications of your receiver system. You can easily find high quality speaker components online but you will need to keep in mind the specifications of receiver for maximum performance. Higher the sensitivity rating of speakers, lower is the maximum volume that speakers can provide. Speakers will draw out maximum power from the amplifier if sensitivity rating for a particular model is highest. If you have a powerful amplifier that you purchased after shelling out hundreds of dollars, you may not need to deal with this issue. However, if you are having a low power amplifier, you will need to take speaker sensitivity rating a bit more seriously.
4. Choose audio equipment that can be permanently placed at one place and cause no problems later on. You have to buy high quality CD player for that uninterrupted music playback. There is no need to buy CD players that house multiple CDs. One of two specs for the CDs is good enough for everyone. You will need a Blu-ray or DVD player if you want to watch movies using your home audio equipment.
